SCHOOL READINESS
Result: All Calvert County Children Enter Kindergarten Ready to Learn.

Population Indicators:
• % of Children Entering Kindergarten Are Fully Ready in the Area of Language & Literacy
• % of Children Entering Kindergarten Eligible For Free & Reduced Lunch Are Fully Ready to Learn

Strategies:
• Increase access to early learning and literacy resources for parents with young children.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT
Result: All Calvert County Youth Are Healthy, Successful, and Contributing to the Well-Being of the Community.

Population Indicators:
• % of Graduating Seniors Plan to Attend Secondary Education or Secure Employment Related to their Education
• % of Teen Pregnancies
• % of Teen Substance Abuse

Strategies:
• Expand out of school support (mentoring, tutoring, asset development, etc.) to youth in underserved neighborhoods.
• Provide middle school youth with opportunities for college and career exploration.
• Increase communication on healthy relationships and self esteem for youth.
 

INCOME 

HEALTH

FINANCIAL STABILITY
Result: All Calvert County Residents Have Basic Financial Skills.

Population Indicators:
• % of Eligible Applicants Applying for Earned Income Tax Credits
• % of Household Income at 300% of Poverty Level or More
• % of Households that Spend 30% or More of Income on Housing

Strategies:
• Provide free tax preparation assistance to families eligible for Earned Income Tax Credits.
• Offer financial education on budgeting, saving, debt reduction, and credit building.
• Provide homeownership counseling to current and future homeowners.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
Result: All Calvert County Residents Are Healthy.

 

Population Indicators:
• % of Adults Who Are Obese
• % of Adults Get Moderate Weekly Physical Activity (30 minutes or more per day for 5 days)

Strategies:
• Implement nutrition and fitness based programs countywide.
