Success By Six is making a countywide plea to parents, families and caregivers to read aloud to their young children. Read To A Child, an unprecedented public engagement campaign is designed to encourage regular reading habits between parents/caregivers and children, everyday for at least 20 minutes a day. In fact, reading aloud to children is one of the simplest things parents and caregivers can do to prepare their kids to enter school ready to learn. It is no longer news that reading with young children benefits their language and intellectual development. But equally important is that reading aloud to children helps parents and caregivers build strong, close relationships with their children while benefiting their learning and encouraging a life-long love of reading.
