Women’s Initiative, United Way of Calvert County, has established a mini grant to support programs of partner agencies that address the needs of women in our community. One program from each of the three Women’s Initiative (WI) impact areas, will be awarded a grant of $1500. These grants will be available as described in the following criteria:
MINI GRANT REQUIREMENTS
- To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a partner agency of the United Way of Calvert County. Applicants can only apply to fund programs in operation between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009. Applicants are required to submit the official Women’s Initiative mini grant application and memorandum of understanding forms.The deadline for submission is Monday, September 1, 2008 at 4:30 pm. No late applications will be accepted.
- The program must make a measurable and verifiable difference in one of the following Women’s Initiative Impact Areas.
1. Early Childhood - Enabling healthy early child development and education.
- Objective- Program must foster parental involvement with their children to enhance the chances of their success.
2. Healthy Girls - Providing young girls with the education, tools and resources for healthier decision-making as they transition from girlhood into womanhood.
- Objective- Program must decrease risky behavior to reduce teen pregnancies, drug use, alcohol use and sexual promiscuity.
3. Women’s Economic Empowerment - Addressing the needs of disadvantaged women in our communities, providing them with opportunities for enrichment and empowerment.
- Objective- Program must provide education, counseling, and/or self-sufficiency skills for homeless and at-risk families.
- Applications are reviewed and voted on by the council of Women’s Initiative members. The members’ decisions will be presented to the United Way of Calvert County Executive Committee for final approval. Applicants will be notified of the results by mail. Grantees are required to use awarded funds and submit the official Women’s Initiative mini grant final report by July 31, 2009.
- Grantees must give credit to the Women’s Initiative in all event literature and publicity. Failure to acknowledge Women’s Initiative as a source of funding will jeopardize the approval of future requests.
